New Anna Stats and an Update on Jacob and Preschool...

Anna went in for her 12 month check and she is still as healthy as ever. She weighed in at 19 pounds (dangit, we can't turn her carseat around yet) and is 30 1/2 inches tall, which makes her 2 inches taller and about a pound and a half heavier than Jacob was at this age. She isn't as high on the percentage charts as she used to be though so maybe she will more petite than we thought.

Jacob is continuing to go to preschool and it continues to be a bit of a struggle. It is so funny because he loves it as long as I stay, but as soon as I even mention leaving it is a major freak out session, but he is doing better and he doesn't spend the majority of the day trying to negotiate his attendence. He even promised his teacher today that he will stay all by himself on Monday...we will see how far that goes, but for now I just try to remember that this is how Jacob is when it comes to change and new things and that he will come around like he always does. It just breaks my heart every time I have to leave and know how upset he is. It has been really fun to watch him in class...he is such a chatter box...I never would have guessed that a year ago...and he is a bit defiant when it comes to listening to his teacher...I should have known he would be like that, but I thought he might be different for his teacher, oh well, you just can't help but love him...he is just sooo cute!

Happy 1st Birthday Anna...

So, as I have mentioned Anna's 1st birthday was last Sunday and it went fairly well, but I wish I had made it just a little bit more low key. Most of Saturday and Sunday I was running around trying to get things done for our little family gathering and because I feel a little bit like a single parent lately, I was stressed, and to get things done I had to ingore my children a bit. Which seems all wrong, I should have been spending the time with them and enjoying her first birthday. But here is why I went a bit psycho...when Jacob turned 1, we were at this beautiful cabin with Wade's family and it was suppose to be so much fun, but as usual on the drive up the mountain I started not feeling so well. It turned out to be a really nasty flu ( that I gave to everyone else) and I missed Jacob's birthday, I didn't make the cake, and I could barely stand up to watch him open his presents, so I vowed the next 1st birthday would be different. I guess I have now learned my lesson. She missed her nap and was too tired to eat her cake, and wouldn't smile for pictures or rip open her presents...she just wasn't my normal happy little Anna. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the people that came and appreciated the support and gifts and we are so glad that everyone loves our Anna Banana as much as we do. The Cake...I have had a real thing about ladybugs, her room is ladybugs, her clothes are ladybugs and now her cake is a ladybug, she will even be a ladybug for halloween but after that I am done with the ladybugs.

So for whatever reason Anna wasn't on TV today. I sent in another and hopefully she will be on on Monday. I was bummed...I had the VCR all ready to go so I could tape it and it was all for nothing...oh well!

Good Things Utah...Baby's First Birthday...

I really enjoy watching a local program called Good Things Utah (kind of like "The View" but a lot nicer). They air pictures of babies on their first birthday and I have sent one for Anna, so if all goes well and you care to watch (all you Utahns...abc4 @10:50ish) you can see my little Anna Banana for her television debut on September 12 (her birthday is actually the 14th but it is a Sunday), but of course if you are out of state or have more of a life than me, this is the picture I sent in.

The First of Many School Dayz...

September 2nd was Jacob's first day of pre-school and he did so well! Both Wade and I and Grandma Burnett were able to go and drop him off. He was hesitant and took a little coaxing before we could leave, but eventually we were able to without tears...well, without Jacob tears...I got all weepy after we left, but not nearly as weepy as I thought I would be. I was really so proud of him.
The following days have not been as great, he cries before we leave and doesn't want me to leave him there. He always lets me leave and even does it without tears, but when I pick him up I find out that that is not the case during school. I guess I shouldn't be so suprised it always takes Jacob just a little bit longer than most kids to warm up to new situations, so we will give him a few more tries before I worry about it too much. The funny thing about it is that he can chatter all day about the things he learns and doesn't even protest about going again, but then when it actually comes time to go we have problems...kids?!!

Great Achievements...

July 30th was a big day for the Burnett family. We will start with Jacob. As I mentioned before Jacob has been in swimming lessons the last few weeks and when he started it was hard to even get him in the car to go there let alone get him in the pool. So when the last day of lessons rolled around and he got in the car without crying, got into the pool without crying and got near the teacher without crying. I knew that today was going to be different. I am so proud to say that Jacob absolutely shocked me. He blew bubbles, he kicked his legs with the teacher, he jumped in the pool, held on to the edge in the deeper part without freaking out, and went under water for 3 seconds... all things he had never done before. All the moms were clapping and cheering for him because they knew how much he had struggled. I was so proud of my little man. Unfortunately, as usual I forgot my camera and some friends took pictures for me which I haven't tried to get back yet, but when I do, there will be pictures.

Next in line is our little Anna, who at 10 1/2 months took here real first steps and now we can't get her to sit down. She thinks she is the best walker (she's not) and we have had the usual bumps and bruises, but it sure is funny to watch her try to take off in a sprint and only make one step and then fall flat on her face. This is a video three days later and I am not sure why but I turned the camera sideways while filming it. I was hoping I could turn it but I can't, so you will just have to turn your head. Another thing...I have been trying to put a video of her walking just a few days after her first steps, but it has not been working, so that is why this post took so long. This was taken on the 12th of August...I will still try to post the other later.

Last but not least, Wade and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe it has been 5 years! We have been through so much together in such a short amount of time. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am so glad that I get to share my life with Wade, my best friend... that he's there with me through all of it, the good and the bad, and loves me just because and I love him, I hope you know that Wade...I am so lucky to be your girl!
We were able to celebrate on the 31st and we went to the cheesecake factory...so good! Since it was our anniversary we did splurge a little, but you could totally share a meal and come home stuffed...the portions were huge and the cheesecake...divine! I got the cookie dough and Wade got the oreo mudslide cheesecake, both very yummy. Afterwards we went to hit a bucket of balls like we used to do in Rexburg for a cheap date...I am definately not as good as I used to be, so I have decided to stick with Wii golf instead!

So, I definitely haven't blogged in a while and my excuse was that nothing exciting has really happened this summer, but after looking at some of my pictures I realize there are just some things I can't believe I didn't write about...

Grandma B came for a visit in June and we did so many things...the zoo, swimming, and picnics, but the thing Jacob remembers the most was the SLC Bees game where the first baseman threw him the first ball of the game.

Jacob loves to be like his dad in anyway that he can...especially when it comes to wearing ties





















Jacob got to be in the Days of "47" children's parade this year ( the largest in the country) Wade got to march with the kids too. They both had to wear white shirts and jeans (in 97 degree weather) and pretty sunshine crowns which unfortunately I did not get a picture of because of uncooperative children. Wade was soooo cute in his little crown!!!









Jacob has started swimming lessons about a week ago. He is terrified of the water and we are not really sure why, so we were hoping that the lessons would help. So far, he will at least get in the water at class, but he cries most of the time with the teacher. On the other hand, when he gets in the pool with his dad, we have been able to get him to go under water and jump in the pool, kick his legs and blow bubbles, we are hoping he will do the same for the teacher on Monday so we don't look like slacker parents. Anyways we got him some goggles and Anna loves to wear them, as soon as you put them on her she starts to giggle.















I think by now you know that Jacob is a huge baseball fan and he is always coming up with baseball gear to wear, the most recent is his obsession with the catcher and likes to use a baseball glove as his catchers mask...kids are so funny and so creative.

















A little more about Anna...


She has her 4 front teeth now and took her first timid step about 2 days ago. It wasn't much but she is on her way. She is still so funny and so sweet. My favorite part about her is how much she love to play with her brother, they are getting to be such good friends.







We cant believe there is only one more moth of summer left. Pretty soon Wade will be doing his MBA and working full time, so we will never see him again, and little Jacob will be starting preschool... where has all the time gone. This is the first time in a long time that I will be sad to see summer end.

So the kids wanted to sing a song for their Grandpa B on his birthday...Okay, so who am I kidding...the parents wanted the kids to sing but as you can tell from this clip we weren't very persuasive, but Happy Birthday anyways. Hope your day is wonderful!

Our Little Anna Banana...

Okay so you are probably going to think that I am the worst mother letting my nine-month old have cheetos and ice cream, but I promise this doesn't happen very often...my baby really just loves to eat and she is so cute while she is doing it that it is hard to resist.
Anna is such a healthy happy baby. We just had our nine month check-up last Monday and found everything to be just the way it should be. She is 18 lbs. and 27 1/2 inches long which is 2 pounds heavier, but exactly the same length as last time. This completely baffles me, because I am constantly buying new clothes to fit her long body. The only explanation we can come up with is that they measured her wrong last time...Oh well, she is healthy and wonderful. She is also able to stand up and cruise as long as she has something to hold on to and unfortunately she can go up stairs (which is a terrible thing in our three story home) She can say hi and loves to sing and listen to herself talk. Her hair seems to be growing quickly and above is a picture of her mohawk she gets during naptime because she sleeps on her head with her bum up in the air (sooo cute). She also loves playing with her big brother and no matter how much he bugs her she always comes back for more. She thinks he is hysterical and he loves to give her hugs and kisses whenever he can. I really just love our little family and I am so grateful for Anna and the things she teaches us everyday. She is an Angel!
