Scariest Day of My Life and a Bit of Perspective
I hadn't planned on sharing this in my blog, but I decided I should for all those moms and dads out there.
A couple of weeks ago we received some bad news and were having a bit of a hard time dealing with it. We were on the top floor of our 3-story town home discussing our problem and Jacob went to the bottom floor to watch his movie. He was down there for a while, I was changing Anna and Wade was talking to his Mom, when all of the sudden Wade felt like he should go check on Jacob. At first he couldn't find him so he came for my help. We searched all over the house and I found him by the couch. He was on his knees hunched over and looked like he was hiding because. Wade went to pick him up...Jacob was limp and blue and barely breathing. Wade pounded on his back and we saw the large piece of gum fall out of his mouth, but Jacob still didn't open his eyes. I went to call 911 and Wade continued to tell Jacob to wake up. I couldn't believe what was happening and to top it all off I couldn't get through to 911!!! Fortunately, Jacob woke up on his own and the poor little guy thought he was in trouble for 2 reasons...1. because he stole gum and 2. because his mom and dad were pounding on him and yelling at him. We were so thankful to have him and to be blessed enough to be alive. Suddenly our earlier problem didn't seem so big. We don't know how long he had been like that or what would have happened if we had waited to go check on him, but we try not to think about and just be grateful.
Moral of the story...
1. Don't leave gum in baby bags.
2. Keep perspective when things go wrong.
3. Listen to those still small voices.
4. Love your kids every day and make sure they know it.
5. Last, but certainly not least, be grateful for every minute of every day.
Vaccinations and Circus Band-aides
Today Anna Turned 4 months old and with that she went to her 4 month check-up. I thought I would be smart and kill 2 birds with one stone by taking Jacob in for his 3 year check-up as well...it was kind of crazy dealing with the two of them but at least I won't have to do the both of them for another year. Both Kids are perfect as can be...Anna weighs in at 14lbs 6oz and 26 inches long. I was looking at Jacob's old record and at 4 months he weighed in at 14lbs 9oz and was 22 inches long...which completely confuses me, because I remember him being so much skinnier than Anna and on all his records he is in a very low percentile and she is very high. Must be the boys vs girls thing, but it doesn't seem like it should be that drastic of a difference. Jacob now is a big 28 lbs and 36 1/2 inches tall, still small for his age but healthy.
I was so nervous for both of them getting their shots...Jacob is hard to control and pin down and of course Anna cries a lot and is hard to console. But it was no problem, in fact the hard part was getting Jacob to stand on the scale...go figure! Poor little Anna has a forgetful mother who forgot to give her her Tylenol before we left, but she cried even less than last time and has been her normal happy self all day. They both receive circus band-aides. Which made my little animal lover happy as a clam.
I am so blessed to have such beautiful healthy kids who I love to pieces.

2007 Year in Review
Well we have had an eventful year in the Burnett Family. Wade got a new job, we bought our first home, moved to Salt Lake, had a beautiful baby girl, and our beautiful baby boy just turned three!
Christmas was a lot of fun chaos at our home. We had G and G Shrader and Uncle Zach at our house for the holidays. It was a lot of fun to have them here and to see Jacob really enjoy the Santa Clause thing. We acted out the nativity, threw some reindeer feed o
ut in the snow and left cookies and celery for Santa and his reindeer. If I can figure out how to put the nativity video on I will, it was hysterical! My mom looked more like the tooth fairy than a wise man, but it was definitely something we will always remember. Maybe next year we will get Jacob to participate more.
We were really lame at sending our Christmas letter this year, but I plan on sending a Spring letter instead. We really enjoyed all the wonderful letters we received and hope all those pregnant people out there are doing well. I think 5 out the 6 people we know of are having girls. It must be a trend. When we had Jacob, everyone was having boys. Funny how that works.
As for now we are doing a lot of home improvements. The house needs a definite paint job, we are re-doing some of the flooring and hope to put a new vanity into the downstairs bathroom soon. In the next year or so our big project hopefully will be converting our loft into a Master bedroom complete with bathroom and walk in closet. Right now the loft is our room but the bathroom is down a long flight of stairs which can be hard on a child bearing mother...I am sure some of you know what I mean.
Except for that, Wade is still working away as a financial analyst and I am still at home with the kids...I love it.
Jacob, as I said just turned three on the 27th of December. He loved his p
resents, but surprisingly enough the thing he most enjoyed was the baseball cake I made for him made out of an orange (his favorite color) cake mix. He just couldn't wait to blow out the candles and have a slice. Unfortunately he has entered what my mom calls the tyrannical three's stage which can be trying on my patience. He's still so sweet with Anna and loves to give her hugs and kisses and he can always make her smile, in fact, he was the first one to make her giggle. He is learning so fast and we are finding it a little sad that Grandma and Grandpa are no longer Framma and Frampa, or that animals are no longer mammals.
Anna is as calm and as patient as ever. Even as I am writing this, Jacob is surrounding her head with a billion toys and getting in her face and she still is just as content as could be. She really is a blessing. She teaches me so many things and I just love having her in our home. She will be 4 months old on Monday and almost has the rolling over thing down, but it has taken her a little longer than Jacob just because she is so content that s
he doesn't feel the need to go anywhere I think. We also think she is teething (sooo soon) poor thing would bite her fingers off if we didn't intervene. We are trying to keep up with the drool, but still she is always our happy little baby. Another fun event for Anna was that she was blessed in our church on my birthday...what a great present! She looked beautiful in her 27 year old dress (my blessing dress) and she didn't cry during it and was held by about a dozen or so family and friends with no complaint. We just love her to pieces.

I swore to myself that I wouldn't start one of these...Think of all the time it will take, but here we are anyways and hopefully I can keep up with it so it's somewhat entertaining. I am not promising anything! Enjoy!
